Behavior of Oil Prices and Canadian Dollar in August

Date August 6, 2007

Here is something interest I read about seasonality in the month of August from JPMorgan Research. Take it for what it’s worth.

1) Looking back to 1990, WTI oil prices have risen more than 80% of the time in August, by an average USD5/bbl.

2) Indeed, looking back as far as 1980, USD/CAD has tended to fall in the month of August around 2/3rds of the time

The British Pound is down quite a bit today. Hope you read my Foot and Mouth Disease GBP post on Saturday
